We loved the opportunity to be a part of ETL’s first event for North America, this year held virtually in early June. We presented on AV for Hybrid Events talking about planning, budgeting, and technology needs for hybrid meetings. We compiled our best tips, tricks and advice for planners and had our good friend and Explainer-in-Chief Carolyn Strauss join us.

While ETL was all live sessions, we chose to pre-record and stream as “live” to our viewers. Why? We outline a few benefits of pre-recording:

1. We didn’t have to get it right the first time

Pre-recording our session gave us the chance to try new things; we didn’t have to always stay on script and we could explore areas of our conversation we thought was interesting. We could also edit out or reshoot any mistakes.

2. We stood out

Our session didn’t look like everyone else’s. There were no floating heads or crooked picture frames in the background. We filmed our discussion in “Greenland”, our huge green screen room we revamped during the pandemic. We chose our own unique background and it really professionalized and elevated our session.

 3. Editing really does matter

While we did get a great take all the way through, our raw footage still needed to be edited by our experienced Engineers to enhance the picture and sound quality. We were also able to use and edit in multiple camera angles to keep the audience engaged. And finally we added text and pictures to reinforce our main points throughout the presentation.

4. We weren’t worried about technical problems

Since our session was already recorded, we didn’t have to worry about someone’s home or office internet cutting out or lagging. Nothing ruins a session more than the audience not being able to hear or understand the speaker. It’s the closest solution to fool-proof you can get!

5. Because we could

Production is one of our biggest strengths. We’re great at creating broadcast-quality content for us and our clients, so why wouldn’t we take this opportunity to show off our stuff? 😊
